30 Years, 30 Workshops
With this 2007-2008 season, BCCF celebrates its 30th year serving the choral community in British Columbia. The Board has set itself a challenge - to create, over the course of the season, THIRTY events that will bring singers together in music-making, and present the federation to the province.
Help us make this a reality - contact us today to set up an event in your community

Always time for Messiah!
with Bruce PullanTraditionally, George Frederick Handel's great oratorio "Messiah" is performed at Christmas - but its subject matter spans the church year, and it was actually first written for performance at Easter.
Come join us for a mid-season day of work on the choruses of this marvellous oratorio. Hosted by Richmond Chorus, the workshop will offer participants the chance to sing the perennial favourites, like the great "Hallelujah" chorus, as well as to work on some of the less well-known numbers.
Our clinician will be BRUCE PULLAN, Conductor of the Vancouver Bach Choir, and Director of Choral Activities at UBC. Mr Pullan has recently been awarded a well-deserved Order of Canada for his services to the arts. "Messiah" is a well-loved work for him, in spite of the fact that this past Christmas has seen his 55th set of "Messiah" performances!
As well as encouraging our best singing, Mr Pullan will offer sound-bytes and anecdotes about other performances, and historical andmusicological background to the work.
We will be using the Novello Watkins Shaw edition; registrants are asked to indicate if they have their own copy or will need to borrowone for the occasion. Available copies may be limited - first come, firstserved!
