Job Description: St Alban's Anglican is an ethnically diverse, dynamicparish with a long tradition of choral music. Currently the choir is composed of approximately 20 members ranging in age from 16 to 80+ years and is comprised of a variety of musical abilities and choral experience. The most commonly used music sources include 'Common Praise' and 'Gather'. There is also a music library with a variety of traditional and contemporary anthems and hymns.

The music director will promote the church's work in music, expand and develop the church music program and organize a choralworkshop once or twice a year. Some ideas for the future include a children's choir, men's choir, women's choir, concerts, evensongs, contemporary services, etc.

Job nature: The Choir Director will conduct 1 evening rehearsal onThursday evenings, play for the main service Sunday mornings, an early service once per month, an evening service once per month, as well as weddings and funerals as needed (pay is separate for these). He/She isexpected to work closely with church staff and clergy, attend weekly staffmeetings and monthly Music and Liturgy meetings.

Qualifications: a degree in music, organ, piano and choral conducting skilland a familiarity with Anglican Liturgy. Patience and a sense of humour aredefinite assets.
