As a service to our members, the BC Choral Federation puts on a number of exciting and informative choral events every year.
Chorfest is our flagship event held each May to coincide with our AGM. Highlighting interesting and challenging works, the weekend event is suitable for amateur and community-based choral singers. Chorfest 2012 will be held on May 4-6 in Surrey BC. The theme is "Sweet and Hot - Jazz and Swing Standards".
Occuring on the same weekend as Chorfest, the BC Youth Choir is BC's premier youth choral experience. This is an auditioned choir of youths aged 18-25 from around the province, which performs at Chorfest as part of the gala concert.
The Choral Directorship Course is another unique offering by the BCCF. The course is aimed at conductors who want to hone their skills, interact with their peers, or simply refresh the basics. Held over a week in Vancouver mid August. This year's CDC is focused on those working with mixed-voice choirs - whether at high school or in the community.
Choral Stage is our children's camp held each summer in Vancouver. It provides a stage for kids to
immerse themselves in exciting musical activities (theatre games, vocal skills, musicianship and ear training) culminating in semi-staged choral concerts.
Rounding out our regular offerings is Seniors Chorfest. Held, on average, every two years, the Seniors' Chorfest offers a weekend of favourite tunes and choral activities.
Our workshops offer a changing blend of vocal health, choral management, and repertoire-based experiences. Held throughout the province, we're always open to finding a clinician to suit your community's needs. Get in touch with your Regional Director to set up a workshop in your area.
