For the eleventh year running, the BCCF is offering this foundational course for conductors.

In recent years we have alternated a focus on elementary and secondary teachers. This year the course will encompass both, with the morning given to foundational skills of vocal and conducting technique, the afternoon to interest-specific topics according to participants’ background, and the early evening to master-class sessions. The repertoire package will include both treble and mixed-voice repertoire. Both Levels One and Two will be offered, but in such a way that participants build their course according to their own training and need.

Each morning will begin with group voice instruction at varying levels, followed by small-group conducting sessions.  The afternoons will offer seminars to include the following
· Dealing with the young / the changing / the aging voice
· Repertoire sessions for different choirs
· Incorporating “challenged” singers
· The adolescent male voice: recruiting & maintenance
· Organizational skills
· Retreats, trips, tours
· World music
· Vocal jazz
· Score study
The course takes place during the retailers’ reading clinic week; there will be opportunity to access repertoire packages from these clinics as needed
